Vietnam removes data localization requirements in new draft AI law

( November 25, 2025, 05:02 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A new draft of Vietnam’s proposed artificial intelligence law has been released following a National Assembly discussion on Friday. Under the latest draft, foreign providers of high-risk AI systems will no longer be required to store data in Vietnam, though they must still designate a local “contact point.” Only foreign providers whose AI systems require mandatory conformity certification before being circulated or used will need to appoint a legal representative in the country.The draft bill (in Vietnamese) is attached....
