South Korea's DN Automotive sanctioned over misuse of subcontractors' technical data

( November 25, 2025, 03:12 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: DN Automotive, a leading manufacturer of anti-vibration auto parts in South Korea, has been fined 456 million won ($310,000) and given corrective orders by the country's competition regulator for unfair practices involving the misuse of subcontractors’ mold-design data. The Korea Fair Trade Commission said the company demanded 12 sets of press-mold drawings from two subcontractors as a condition for paying mold fees, even though the regulator found such detailed drawings were not necessary for the outsourced work. The regulator classified the drawings as protected technical data and concluded that DN Automotive exceeded the “minimum necessary” scope of data demands under the Fair Transactions in Subcontracting Act and unlawfully provided three drawings to rival subcontractors without consulting the original suppliers.The statement, in Korean, is attached....
