South Korea initiative to let public-sector workers use outside AI tools

( November 24, 2025, 08:30 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: South Korea said Monday it will introduce a new “common artificial intelligence infrastructure” that will allow public-sector employees to use selected private-sector AI tools within government networks. The Ministry of Science and ICT and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety said in a joint statement that the initiative will enable central and local governments to safely deploy private-sector AI technologies inside their internal systems. Once the service launches fully in early 2026 after test operations, it will let government agencies access a range of commercial AI models, training data and computing resources to apply AI across administrative and public services, reducing redundant development and investment, the ministries said.The statement, in Korean, is attached....
