Southern Glazer’s says discovery shows US FTC lacks basis for ‘overbroad’ claims

( November 20, 2025, 23:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits told a US judge in a status report that discovery in the Federal Trade Commission’s case against the company alleging price discrimination “has made clear that the FTC (i) lacked a basis for the overbroad allegations in its complaint, (ii) was not prepared to litigate this case on the timetable it originally proposed in its Rule 26(f) submission, and (iii) remains unprepared to litigate on its current scheduling proposal.” Meanwhile, the FTC said Southern Glazer’s is attempting “to air a number of issues and live disputes that are neither relevant to nor appropriate for resolution as part of the case scheduling process, and are premature for the Court’s consideration.” The agency added that during the six months of discovery already completed, it has provided information promptly, producing its entire investigative file to Southern Glazer’s in June.See joint status report. ...
