Australia to update media-bargaining code by using levies to incentivize platforms

Australia's Treasury Department published a consultation paper on News Bargaining Incentive on Thursday seeking feedback on proposals aimed at incentivizing platforms including Google and Meta Platforms to engage with media companies to compensate them for the use of their material. The document seeks feedback on thresholds, rates and mechanisms.
