US FTC's Meador slams Synopsys, Ansys for 'bad faith' merger remedy compliance

Meador said the companies knowingly closed the $35 billion deal in July 2025 despite being unable to meet a key condition requiring prompt divestiture of certain assets to Keysight Technologies, as mandated by the FTC’s May 2025 order. While concurring in finalizing the order, Meador said he would have supported referring the matter for civil penalties, citing prior cases where companies faced multimillion-dollar fines for violating FTC divestiture orders.
