EU’s carbon border levy faces rollout risks, carmakers warn

( November 5, 2025, 09:59 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The rollout of the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism could be jeopardized by delays in secondary legislation, the bloc’s carmakers' association warned Wednesday. With the levy’s charges due to start in January 2026, the lobby group ACEA said key implementation details, including emission calculation methods, default values and certificate trading rules, remain unpublished. Director General Sigrid de Vries urged the European Commission to issue the necessary texts “as soon as possible” and allow flexibility for operators next year.Full statement follows....
