Japan's Toyota raises tariff-hit forecast, maintains strong profit outlook

( November 5, 2025, 09:39 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Toyota Motor said Wednesday that the impact of US tariffs in the year ending March 2026 will reach 1.45 trillion yen ($9.4 billion), up from the 1.4 trillion yen ($9.1 billion) it had initially expected. The revision reflects the fact that a lower 15 percent tariff took effect in mid-September, rather than on Aug. 1 as the automaker had projected. Despite the higher tariff burden on its operating profit, Toyota expects net profit for the fiscal year to rise to 2.93 trillion yen from 2.66 trillion yen, supported by robust sales of hybrid and other vehicles.
