Indonesia, Mexico to start CEPA talks to expand trade

( November 3, 2025, 06:28 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Indonesian Minister of Trade Budi Santoso said Indonesia and Mexico have agreed to strengthen trade relations through the formation of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, or CEPA. He made the remarks after meeting with Mexican Minister of Economy Marcelo Luis Ebrard Casaubon in Gyeongju, South Korea, last week on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation's Leaders Meeting. The ministry, however, did not specify when the CEPA talks would begin. Mexico currently ranks 21st as an export destination and 44th as an import source for Indonesia. From January to August 2025, total trade between Indonesia and Mexico reached $1.87 billion, with Indonesian exports to Mexico reaching $1.65 billion, while Indonesian imports from Mexico reaching $219.50 million.
