Mohawk Industries/Godfrey Hirst's Bremworth acquisition faces New Zealand review

In a statement of preliminary issues published on Tuesday, the New Zealand Commerce Commission called for submissions on the deal. One of Mohawk’s interconnected body corporates is Godfrey Hirst New Zealand, which is listed as the acquirer in the statement. The regulator said that Godfrey Hirst and Bremworth overlapped, nationally, in the manufacture and wholesale supply of carpets. The applicant has argued that the market for carpets is in decline, suggesting that other flooring options should now be viewed as a competitive constraint.
