Indonesia imposes import duties on cotton-yarn products
( October 27, 2025, 00:20 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Indonesian Ministry of Trade announced Friday that it has decided to impose safeguard measures on imported cotton-yarn products consisting of 27 8-digit Harmonized System (HS) Numbers in accordance with the 2022 Indonesian Customs Tariff Book. The decision is based on the recommendation of the Indonesian Trade Safeguards Committee, which investigated the import of cotton-yarn products with these HS Numbers. Committee Chairwoman Julia Gustaria Silalahi said the investigation showed that the domestic cotton yarn industry faces serious losses due to the surge in imports of similar products. The duties will be imposed for three years from Oct. 30, 2025 to Oct. 29, 2028.
