Ferry operators MSC, Moby, GNV wrap up Italian cartel probe with commitments

( October 24, 2025, 09:32 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Shipping companies SAS, Moby and Grandi Navi Veloci, or GNV, have seen their remedies accepted to close an Italian antitrust probe. MSC unit SAS, which controls GNV, agreed to sell its 49 percent share in Moby, a competitor to MSC, and to give up a pledge on 51 percent of Moby's capital. Moby will disinvest to settle a financing debt with SAS and appoint a third party to run a tender for the sale. Both GNV and Moby also offered financial compensation to consumers who traveled on routes under investigation for possible collusion on ticket prices. The probe, opened in 2024, focused on a suspected cartel stemming from the structural links between Moby and GNV.The statement follows. The full decision (in Italian) in attached....
