Google sees Italian fine annulled as court upholds EU country-of-origin principle

Two resolutions requiring Google Ireland to pay the 2024 fees were annulled by the court. The contributions breach the country-of-origin rule under the EU's e-Commerce Directive, the court said, confirming earlier EU and Italian decisions that foreign-based online media providers, such as Google, fall solely under the rules of the member states they are established in.Decision attached (in Italian). ...
