Thailand reports spike in illegal websites, moves to tighten digital oversight

( October 20, 2025, 02:40 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Thailand’s Ministry of Digital Economy and Society reported a sharp increase in illegal online content, with over 400,000 URLs flagged between October 2023 and September 2025 — a nearly sevenfold rise from the previous year. Gambling-related sites accounted for more than 300,000 URLs. In response, the MDES signed a memorandum of understanding with the Thai Health Promotion Foundation to strengthen cooperation on digital-media monitoring and online safety measures.
