US DOJ, states seek to 'expand' proposed search monopoly remedies, Google says

( October 16, 2025, 23:13 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Google filed a response brief in remedy proceedings in web search monopolization litigation brought by a US Department of Justice-led coalition, arguing that "substitute language" offered by the plaintiffs would belatedly and improperly "expand" the scope of proposed changes to the company's business. An Oct. 8 court exchange where US District Judge Amit Mehta said he did not intend for any "daylight" between search distribution contracting restrictions imposed on Google involving Android devices and those involving Apple devices and third-party browser companies "does not support their substitute language," the company said in a notice in Washington DC federal court.See attached file....
