Roku's motion to dismiss kids privacy claims is flawed, Michigan says

( August 18, 2025, 21:05 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Michigan's attorney general asked a federal judge to deny Roku's motion to dismiss an array of privacy claims by the state, quoting a study by Mozilla that said that Roku has become the “nosy, gossipy neighbor of connected devices,” tracking “just about everything [it] can." The state attorney general defended its status to bring claims under the parens patriae doctrine, arguing that "Roku’s wide-ranging privacy violations have directly affected Michigan residents’ well-being, have resulted in the collection and dissemination of private information that cannot be undone, and have harmed residents in a manner that cannot be quantified in strictly financial terms."See attached document....
