UK sees major cyberattacks rise 50% amid warning of reporting, oversight gaps

( October 14, 2025, 09:35 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The UK’s National Cyber Security Centre handled 204 nationally significant cyber incidents in the 12 months to August, up from 89 the previous year, the agency said in a report on Tuesday. Of 429 total incidents, 18 were classed as highly significant, marking a 50 percent increase over the previous 12 months. As incident reporting remains voluntary in many cases, the agency warned that its data likely underestimates the scale of the threat. It described the pending Cyber Security and Resilience Bill as essential to improving protections and strengthening regulatory coordination.Statement follows. Report attached....
