Delivery apps in South Korea told to revise unfair clauses after KFTC review

( October 13, 2025, 03:55 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Baedal Minjok and Coupang Eats were identified by South Korea’s competition regulator as using potentially unfair terms in contracts with restaurant partners, prompting both companies to submit revision plans. The Korea Fair Trade Commission cited 10 problematic clauses, covering issues such as unilateral exposure changes, delayed settlements, broad indemnity obligations, limited refund rights and deletion of customer reviews without due process. The regulator also issued a 60-day corrective recommendation to Coupang Eats for charging commissions on pre-discount prices instead of actual payments received, which it said imposed double burdens on merchants. If the company fails to comply, the regulator may issue a formal corrective order. The review was part of a joint inspection with the SMEs ministry aimed at improving fairness in online delivery-platform transactions.The statement, in Korean, is attached....
