EU keeps buying time on AI Act's potential pause

By Luca Bertuzzi ( October 7, 2025, 09:15 GMT | Insight) -- The European Commission has still not finalized whether to propose a pause of the EU AI Act's high-risk requirements, and therefore won't announce it alongside the Apply AI Strategy, which is due to be unveiled on Wednesday. A final choice is now expected with a digital package in November, as standardization delays persist and member states will have another opportunity to give their inputs. Several options remain on the table. The European Commission’s decision on whether to propose a pause of the EU AI Act’s high-risk requirements could have been announced with an AI strategy on sectoral uptake, due to take place on Wednesday, but it was further delayed, MLex has learned....
