New Zealand bricklayers receive warnings over cartel concerns

( October 6, 2025, 01:48 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Four New Zealand bricklayers have been hit with warnings from the country’s antitrust enforcer amid allegations they may have breached the cartel-conduct provisions of competition law. In a statement, the Commerce Commission said the conduct involved bricklayers’ use of courtesy calls, including in the form of text-message exchanges, to discuss quotes for projects. The bricklayers targeted by the warnings are: G. J. Marfell, Mike Vis Bricklaying; Benjamin Robertson; and Andrew Dwyer.
