TikTok’s €530m fine for data transfers to China published in full

( October 2, 2025, 17:09 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Irish Data Protection Commission on Thursday published the full decision documentation for a €530 million fine it imposed on TikTok Technology in April for transferring the data of users in the European Economic Area to China. The regulator found that TikTok infringed the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation on two counts for the transfers, which TikTok subsequently appealed with a hearing due in October. A fresh investigation has since been launched by the Irish watchdog after TikTok notified it that European user data had been stored on servers in China.Statement follows.
