The Korea Fair Trade Commission, which launched the probe after growing consumer complaints, found that the platfirms imposed unfair provisions on users, including broadly exempting themselves from legal responsibility as intermediaries, shifting responsibility for personal-data breaches onto consumers even in cases where a company is at fault and restricting users’ legal rights to cancel services.
