US Senators Hawley, Durbin introduce bill to classify AI systems as products

( September 30, 2025, 15:07 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: New legislation from Republican Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri and Democratic Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois would classify artificial intelligence systems as products, clearing the way for liability claims. The bill is called the Aligning Incentives for Leadership, Excellence, and Advancement in Development, or AI LEAD, Act.
