US imposes tariffs on lumber, furniture products

( September 30, 2025, 12:04 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: US President Donald Trump signed an executive order imposing a 10 percent tariff on softwood timber and lumber, along with a 25 percent duty on upholstered wooden furniture products and kitchen cabinets and vanities. The tariffs will apply from Oct. 14, and will in January increase to 30 percent for upholstered products, and to 50 percent for kitchen cabinets and vanities. The executive order authorizes the administration to continue monitoring imports to see if further tariffs are warranted in the future. The separate tariff rates agreed to in trade deals with the EU, Japan and the UK will apply to these products.Executive order below:...
