ASEAN ministers discuss deepening economic ties with China, Japan, Korea, US

( September 25, 2025, 02:58 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Southeast Asian economic ministers met with counterparts from China, Japan, South Korea and the US this week to strengthen trade and investment ties, Malaysia’s Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry said Wednesday. Talks advanced the signing of the ASEAN-China Free Trade Agreement 3.0 in October, with new provisions on digital trade, the green economy and supply chain connectivity. Ministers also discussed upgrades to the ASEAN-Korea and ASEAN-Japan deals, including cooperation on critical minerals, sustainability, MSME support and acceptance of electronic certificates of origin. The ASEAN-US consultation endorsed a new two-year work plan under the Trade and Investment Framework Agreement covering digital economy, IP and trade facilitation. The press release is attached....
