Australia's Fortrend shouldn't have disclosed employee medical record: privacy watchdog

In a determination by the Australian Information Commissioner, The Melbourne-based investment company was found to have “engaged in conduct constituting an interference with the complainant’s privacy by disclosing the complainant’s medical certificate to a third party.” Fortrend was found to have acted in a way that was “malicious, improper and unjustifiable in the circumstances.”Investment company Fortrend Securities interfered with the privacy of an employee when it released medical records to a client to explain the worker’s decision to leave the company, Australia’s competition watchdog has found....
