Google files reply for dismissing Chegg's US antitrust claims over AI answers

( September 19, 2025, 23:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Google filed a reply in support of its motion to dismiss Chegg's US antitrust claims over AI answers, telling a Washington DC federal judge that Chegg's opposition to the motion "seeks to cloak its claims as a natural outgrowth of the DOJ Search case in a transparent bid to avoid the numerous deficiencies that doom its claims." Chegg is neither a Google customer nor its competitor in the general search services market, and has no credible claim of injury in that market, Google said in the filing. Google continues to index Chegg's content and make it available to users on its search engine, but Chegg's reducing, "costless benefit" from the arrangement cannot be the basis for a cognizable antitrust theory, Google said.See attached file....
