Toyota affiliate Jtekt found to have breached Japan's Subcontract Act over transfer fees

( September 19, 2025, 07:43 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Japanese auto parts maker Jtekt, a Toyota affiliate based in Aichi Prefecture, has received a corrective recommendation for violating the Subcontract Act. The Japan Fair Trade Commission on Friday said the company deducted 1.77 million yen ($12,000) more than necessary in bank transfer fees from 374 subcontractors. Although Jtekt reimbursed the money in December 2024, the watchdog said it was still a violation of the law to charge subcontractors after payments had been decided, even if they had agreed to cover bank transfer costs.
