US judge in Amazon ‘dark pattern’ case quashes FTC subpoena to company

( September 19, 2025, 23:38 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A federal judge granted Amazon’s motion to quash a subpoena by the US Federal Trade Commission that commands Amazon.com Inc. to testify at the upcoming trial over allegations Amazon engaged in manipulative website designs that confused users. “There does not appear to be support in the caselaw cited by the FTC for a subpoena to a corporation that is this broad,” the order said.
