While some argued that more needs to be done to prevent children from using VPNs to circumvent protections, other lawmakers warned that poor privacy safeguards in age assurance may be driving adults toward this technology.The use of Virtual Private Networks is under growing scrutiny in the UK, as lawmakers on Monday questioned whether the technology is being used to circumvent protections established by the Online Safety Act — or whether the rising usage of VPNs could merely indicate that users are seeking to protect their privacy....
