EU set to present ‘statement of intent’ for 2035 climate plan

The indicative target for net greenhouse-gas emission reductions by 2035 will range between 66.3 and 72.5 percent compared to 1990 levels. The range is “without prejudice to the final agreement on the EU’s 2040 climate target,” from which the climate plan was meant to be derived, the text says.The European Union will submit a “statement of intent” at next week's UN General Assembly — rather than a fully fledged climate plan or a Nationally Determined Contribution — member states said in a leaked communication dated Sept. 15....
