Mexican businessman says co-defendant is ‘main character’ in US bribery case

( September 15, 2025, 13:04 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: In a filing, Mexican national Ramon Alexandro Rovirosa Martinez argued that the “main character” of his corruption case is his co-defendant, fugitive businessman Mario Alberto Avila Lizarraga. The businessmen are charged with paying bribes to officials of the Mexican state oil company Pemex for contracts. “It is Mr. Avila, the former Pemex employee, who supplies the Pemex link for this case,” Rovirosa said in the filing. “The only foreign official the government appears to have interviewed in this case concedes as much.”Document attached....
