China reaffirms stance on TikTok, presses US for fair treatment

( September 15, 2025, 01:29 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China’s position on TikTok is “clear and consistent,” and it will safeguard domestic companies’ lawful rights while reviewing the matter in line with laws and regulations, a Commerce Ministry spokesperson said. The official said Beijing values data privacy and security and has never, and will not, force companies or individuals to give foreign data to the government in violation of local laws. The spokesperson also urged the US to work with China to find a solution based on mutual respect and equal footing, and to provide an open and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese companies such as TikTok operating in the US.
