Google’s $425m verdict in US privacy trial calls for rethinking of privacy policy

In finding so, the jurors rejected Google’s argument that the plaintiffs had been informed of the data collection and had given permission. The verdict shows privacy policies may not prove to be an effective defense and it's likely to have companies rethinking their approach to such policies and considering telling users explicitly how they handle data.
