South Korea's Daehan looses collusion appeal, Korea Iron and Steel secures lower fine

By Wooyoung Lee ( September 10, 2025, 02:42 GMT | Insight) -- South Korea’s appellate court has upheld a 2021 antitrust decision by the country’s competition regulator against Daehan Steel and Korea Iron and Steel, two of the steelmakers fined for colluding to fix prices for scrap metal. Daehan Steel unsuccessfully challenged its 34.6 billion won ($24.9 million) fine, while Korea Iron and Steel secured a partial win, with the court reducing its 49.6 billion won fine to 39.6 billion won after excluding certain products from the calculation.
