US petitions Supreme Court to grant emergency tariff powers

John Sauer filed a petition for a writ of certiorari before the Supreme Court requesting that it find it is legal for President Donald Trump to use the International Emergency Economic Powers Act to impose “reciprocal” and emergency tariffs on much of the world. The petition comes after the Court of International Trade in May and the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit last month found the IEEPA tariffs unlawful. The petition sharply criticizes the appeals court ruling and says it’s vital for the tariffs to stay in place, while arguing IEEPA clearly authorizes tariff powers.Petition is attached....
