US judge slammed by institute for 'hollow approach' in Google search remedy order

( September 3, 2025, 19:27 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: US District Judge Amit Mehta's order and opinion following a remedy trial in the government's Internet search monopolization case against Google "pays lip service to the well-supported finding that a package of remedies is required to address the interlocking, mutually reinforcing dynamics of the search market," according to the Knight-Georgetown Institute. While the opinion includes remedies whose stated purpose is to address both access to distribution and access to data for quality improvement, the "hollow approach" in both cases is not likely to spur competition, KGI said. "The ways in which evidence is used to support the opinion’s conclusions creates cause for alarm," a statement said.Statement follows....
