Swedish law protecting criminal-record site conflicts with EU GDPR, court opinion says

The rules limit the remedies to defamation claims. In an opinion for the Court of Justice of the EU, Advocate General Maciej Szpunar argued that national laws cannot sidestep the EU's General Data Protection Regulation's safeguards by granting blanket protection to databases such as Lexbase, which publishes court decisions for paying users without editorial input.The Advocate General's opinion is attached.
