Cuscal's bid for Indue attracts informal review by Australian mergers regulator

( September 3, 2025, 04:33 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The acquisition of Indue, a payment-facilitation company and authorized deposit-taking institution by Australian payment-facilitation services provider Cuscal is set to be probed by the country’s antitrust watchdog under the informal-review mechanism. In a statement, the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission said the two companies overlap in the provision of account-to-account payment-facilitation services as well as card-issuing payment-facilitation services. However, Cuscal and Indue don’t overlap in the provision of merchant acquiring, card and ATM switching services, as well as services under Australia’s Consumer Data Right — all of which are only provided by Cuscal. The regulator has set Nov. 13 as the provisional date for its initial findings.Cuscal's announcement of the deal to the Australian Securities Exchange is attached; the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission's market inquiries letter is attached; the full statement announcing the review follows: ...
