Kongsberg-Newcastle Airport deal cleared under new Australian merger regime

In a Phase 1 determination dated Aug. 29, the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission said that the deal presented no horizontal competitive overlap and it didn’t “otherwise limit or prevent competition from rivals.” The regulator also said that there were sufficient suitable alternative sites available for Kongsberg’s competitors.
