In a statement, New Zealand Finance Minister Nicola Willis said the government would introduce legislation in the parliament in November that would streamline building consenting processes for new supermarkets. The minister said the legislation would propose “selecting a single building consent authority to standardize and streamline building consent processes for grocery developments” that would boost competition regionally or nationally.
