Japanese privacy commission plans surveys on AI, new technologies in FY2026

The Personal Information Protection Commission is also preparing to study privacy-enhancing technologies to help the private sector adopt proactive data-protection measures. To support these initiatives, the PPC has requested a total budget of 3.7 billion yen — a 9.9 percent decrease from the previous year due to significant cuts in the budget allocated for the PPC office relocation.
