JFTC requests doubling budget to support SMEs, despite overall budget decline
( August 29, 2025, 04:10 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Japan Fair Trade Commission has requested doubling its current budget to strengthen the protection of small- and medium-sized contractors working for larger companies, and to enforce the revised subcontract law, scheduled to take effect in January. While the commission’s overall budget for the fiscal year starting in April will shrink by 14 percent to 13.2 billion yen — excluding information technology–related expenses — the allocation for promoting fair trade between large firms and their subcontractors will be doubled to 1.6 billion yen.
