EU members’ GDP exposure to transition risks differs widely, think tank says

( August 25, 2025, 14:35 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: EU countries show significant differences in their GDP exposure to energy transition risks, think tank Bruegel said in a study published today. In France and Sweden, only 8-9 percent of their GDP is exposed to transition risks, compared with 30-40 percent in Poland and Bulgaria, the think tank said. The study is based on a two-stage model that first identifies the sectors most exposed to transition risks, then analyzes the transition readiness of those sectors. The model aims to inform policymakers about how futureproof member states’ economies are for the energy transition, Bruegel said.Full statement follows, study attached....
