Google’s play button trademark narrowed by EUIPO

The decision, issued Friday, said, however, that the US tech giant's trademark protection doesn't extend to sectors such as home automation software and consultancy services. Google saw a partial win before the European Union Intellectual Property Office in its opposition to Spanish firm Área Bis, which applied to register a figurative "área play button" trademark. ...
