China proposes new draft rules to regulate online-platform pricing

( August 25, 2025, 03:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China unveiled a draft set of rules governing pricing behavior on Internet platforms, opening a public consultation until Sept. 22. Issued jointly by the National Development and Reform Commission, the State Administration for Market Regulation, and the Cyberspace Administration of China, the draft requires platforms to set prices legally and independently while prohibiting coercive measures such as restricting traffic, blocking shops, or removing products to manipulate prices. The rules also specify price-labeling requirements for both platforms and in-platform operators; introduce clear criteria and regulatory guidelines to regulate price competition; and propose a collaborative governance mechanism involving government agencies, industry associations, platforms and in-platform operators. The statement follows and the files are attached:...
