Chamber of Commerce backs challenge to New York algorithmic-pricing disclosure law

( August 21, 2025, 23:51 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Chamber of Commerce has filed an amicus brief opposing a motion to dismiss the National Retail Federation's constitutional challenge to the newly enacted New York Algorithmic Pricing Disclosure Act. The act violates the First Amendment by imposing "content- and viewpoint-based speech regulations," according to the Chamber. It will "require businesses operating in the state to recite an ominous, government-mandated script whenever they use an algorithm to tailor prices and offers to individual customers," the brief said. "This compelled speech will create the false impression that algorithmic pricing deserves suspicion and skepticism."See attached file....
