South Korean president meets major businesses ahead of Korea-US summit

The discussions focused on strategies to maximize economic gains from the talks, as well as investment and purchasing plans by South Korean companies in the US. The heads of Samsung Electronics, LG, Hyundai Motor Group, Hanwha, Celltrion, Doosan Enerbility and Hanjin Group were at the meeting, along with the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Federation of Korean Industries. President Lee thanked the leaders for their role in recent tariff negotiations with the US, which he said produced “better-than-expected results.” Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong pledged continued high-value investments in the US and South Korea.
