GTCR, Surmodics have last chance to settle with US FTC before hearing on injunction

The companies had offered a divestiture package that was deemed incomplete by the antitrust regulator, but an expedited mediation and the parties’ willingness to settle could help avoid litigation. The biggest hurdle is that the parties don’t seem open to divesting Biocoat in its entirety, and the FTC isn’t open to a “piecemeal” divestiture. GTCR and Surmodics have just one more opportunity to settle with the US Federal Trade Commission before the start of their preliminary injunction hearing on Thursday....
