NCAA opposes summary judgment in US wage-fixing case brought by coaches

( August 15, 2025, 23:07 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The National Collegiate Athletic Association filed a brief opposed a motion for partial summary judgment brought by coaches over alleged wage-fixing, telling a California federal judge that the plaintiffs ask the court to decide on disputed factual matters over the NCAA allowing sports teams to utilize an additional, unpaid volunteer coach. The plaintiffs are wrong that there is no genuine factual dispute over whether the NCAA enacted the volunteer coach legislation "to save money" in violation of the Sherman Act, and instead "the purpose was to protect coaches' ability to volunteer to support student-athletes without undermining the limits on the number of paid coaches enacted the previous year, which Plaintiffs have not challenged," the NCAA argued in its brief.See attached file....
